66th Republic Day

66th Republic Day was celebrated with gay and gaiety in the reverential campus of V.O.C. College of Education. The Principal Dr.V. Thamodharan, greeted the gathering, which included the Chief Guest Er.D. Dhanavel, AVP Commercial & Projects, Sterlite copper, Thoothukudi, the Teacher educators, the teachers from V.O.C. Educational Society Special School, the Student teachers, the Non-academic staff, the Alumni of the college Mr.A. Kolangi and the organizer Dr.A. Rajadhurai.
The programme included Flag hoisting by the chief guest, Flag song, Thirukkural reading, Thought for the Day, Message by Student teacher, Scripture Readings and the Chief Guest address. The Chief Guest hoisted the tricolour and addressed the gathering by expressing his pride in being a guest to one of the Institutions that belonged to V.O.C. Educational Society which was the pioneer in allowing one to breathe the free air of education, irrespective of Caste, Creed, Religion and Economy. He also remarked that the status, we, Indians have gained today, is due to the unstinting efforts of several Stalwarts. He concluded his speech by quoting Dr.A.P.J. Abdulkalam's famous lines about DREAMS and he also asked the Student teachers to follow the ways of the great leaders and work for the uplift of the Nation. The programme came to an end with Vote of thanks by Mrs.S.Prema Latha. She thanked the patriots for giving an opportunity to taste the fruits of freedom and also motivated the Student teachers to have Purity in thought and nobility in deed which will lead to more fertile and prosperous tomorrow.
